Nigeria: EFCC Nabs Kannywood Star for Alleged Naira Mutilation

3 February 2026

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested a Kannywood Star, Samha Inuwa, for the alleged mutilation and abuse of the Naira.

Inuwa was apprehended by operatives of the commission attached to the Kano Zonal Directorate.

Dele Oyewale, the spokesman of the anti-graft agency, confirmed her arrest to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday evening.

He explained that the Kannywood Star was arrested following a viral video showing her conspicuously cleaning mucus from her nose using Naira notes.

"Following the release of the viral video, the Commission swung into action by tracing and subsequently arresting her to answer questions.

"She is currently being held at the Commission's detention facility while the investigation is ongoing," the anti-graft spokesman told journalists.

Oyewale added that the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
