Liberia Launches First Girls' Education Scorecard!

At the 2025 Joint Education Sector Review in Buchanan, the Ministry of Education and partners unveiled the National Policy on Girls' Education (NPGE) Indicators Scorecard--Liberia's first tool tracking real progress for girls in school.

The scorecard shows strong gains in gender parity, but also highlights key challenges: late school entry, low completion rates, risks of early pregnancy, safety concerns, and limited female teacher representation. A powerful reminder--1,790 schools still lack toilets, creating barriers to girls' dignity, health, and attendance.

Developed through the EducateHER Project in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and partners, the scorecard calls for stronger investment in safe schools, better data systems, improved GBV prevention, and increased education financing.

Improving girls' education is a national responsibility. Liberia cannot transform its future without ensuring every girl can thrive in school.
