Nigeria: Kwara - 2 Killed in Fresh Bandits' Attack

10 February 2026

Bandits have attacked Gidan Sani village in the Tsaragi Emirate area of Kwara State, killing two people, including a woman.

The attack, it was gathered, occurred around midnight on Sunday, when the assailants reportedly stormed the community and went straight to a family residence.

The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr Adekimi Ojo, told Daily Trust that the incident was a case of attempted kidnapping, adding that the attackers had gone to the house of a miner who was not at home.

"They went to the man's house but did not meet him. They then attempted to kidnap the father, but his wife resisted, and she was shot," the police commissioner said.

He added that the father was shot in the leg, while their 10-year-old daughter also sustained a gunshot injury to the leg.

"The woman later died from the gunshot wound. While the bandits were escaping, they shot another man. In all, two people lost their lives in the incident," Ojo said.
