- The leadership of the Liberia Marketing Association (LMA) has postponed its national elections, originally scheduled for the third week of February 2026.

The decision was made following a resolution adopted by the association and witnessed by a Government Oversight Team, calling for a delay to ensure a more robust electoral process.

In a press release dated February 11, 2026, LMA leaders announced that the new election date is set for March 28, 2026. The polls will coincide with the LMA's Annual Convention, which is expected to begin on March 26 in Sanniquellie, Nimba County.

According to the release, the postponement was necessitated by the prevailing institutional climate and the need for a comprehensive electoral roadmap. This bridge period is intended to maintain the association's stability and functionality.

The resolution affirms that all parties formally recognize the March 28 election date and have pledged support to the election committee in delivering free, fair, and transparent elections. The committee will be headed by independent professionals, including representatives from the National Elections Commission (NEC) and the Liberia National Bar Association (LNBA), among others.

The release further noted that the Government Oversight Team--recently established and chaired by the Ministry of Local Government, with the Office of the Vice President as co-chair--has been mediating disagreements among stakeholders over electoral and operational issues.

At a meeting held on Monday, the LMA leadership endorsed the convention guidelines, election timetable, and financial guidance and reporting protocols, signaling a unified commitment to a credible electoral process.
