The 20th biennial Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry Games (NOGIG) ended in spectacular fashion, with Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) emerging as overall champions. NLNG dominated the medal table, securing an impressive haul of 52 medals, comprising 20 gold, 16 silver, and 16 bronze.
Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) claimed a commendable second place with 49 medals (14 gold, 15 silver, 20 bronze), while the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) finished third, earning 18 medals, including five gold and eight silver.
TotalEnergies secured fourth position with 15 medals (five gold, 10 bronze). Renaissance, Oando, Seplat Energy, PTI, NUPRC, and ND Western completed the top ten, with Chevron, NMDPRA, ExxonMobil, Shell, and Aradel occupying places 11 to 15 respectively.
In a thrilling football final, the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) clinched the gold medal by defeating ND Western with a solitary goal. The decisive moment came in the second half, following a goalless first period, when a spectacular volley from outside the box found the back of the net. Earlier, Oando secured the bronze medal, triumphing over NNPC 5-3 in a penalty shootout after their third-place play-off also ended without a goal.
