Nigeria: APC Constitutes Ward, Lga Screening, Appeals, Election Committees

17 February 2026

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has constituted members of the Ward/Local Government Congresses Screening Committees, Screening Appeals Committees, as well as the Ward/LGA Congresses(election) and Congresses Appeal Committees.

The Committee's lists published on the APC social media platform

were signed by the Party's National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, on Monday.

The party, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, urged all appointed Committee members to discharge their responsibilities diligently, transparently and in strict adherence to the Party's Constitution and Guidelines.

APC had fixed Wednesday, February 18, for its ward congresses, while the exercise at the local government level will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026.

However, the congresses will not take place in Osun, Ekiti, Rivers, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Morka had told journalists that the exclusion of Osun, Ekiti, and the FCT from the congresses is due to the forthcoming governorship and area council elections in the states and territories.

He also said Rivers is excluded from the exercise because the APC had held an off-season congress in the state, and the tenure of the elected executives is still subsisting.

In their place, the election for local government areas (five state delegates and three national congress delegates) will be held.
