Monrovia — Liberia's anti-corruption efforts received global attention last week when Auditor General P. Garswa Jackson Sr. served as a panelist at a two-day international anti-corruption summit in Lima, the Republic of Peru.
The summit provided a technical forum for dialogue and the exchange of experiences regarding the tools, strategies, and actions that Supreme Audit Institutions (SAls) are implementing to prevent and detect corruption. Its results are expected to contribute to strengthening integrity policies and consolidating the joint efforts of SAls in the fight against corruption and professional malfeasance.
During the summit, Mr. Jackson highlighted the country's use of data analytics in public audits, presenting practical results, methodologies, findings, and outcomes from two audits conducted by the General Auditing Commission (GAC) of Liberia.
He said the two audits demonstrated the GAC's use of data analytics tools to improve transparency and detect irregularities, including transnational corruption in Liberia.
