Liberia to Build First Ever Export Processing Facility

24 February 2026

Monrovia, February 25, 2026: Deputy Minister of Information Daniel Sanoe has announced a major agreement between Global Logistics Services and APM Terminals to develop Liberia's first-ever export processing facility in Monrovia.

The investment package provides agro-processing facilities, cold storage, and hubs for agricultural machinery.

Speaking Tuesday at a regular press briefing at the Ministry of Information, Minister Sanoe said the agreement was disclosed during the ongoing EU-Liberia Business Forum in Brussels.

He added that a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was also signed between the Liberia Chamber of Commerce and Caribbean partners during the event.

Highlighting the forum, which concludes today, Minister Sanoe said the arrangement will grant Liberia duty-free and quota-free access to the EU market for all exports except arms and ammunition, positioning the country as an attractive destination for export-oriented investors.

He noted that the EU-Liberia Business Forum is part of Liberia's broader economic diplomacy and investment promotion strategy, supported by the European Union.

Minister Sanoe also emphasized Liberia's potential to attract US$1.5 billion in investment, particularly in sectors such as agriculture, energy, infrastructure, and trade, which he says was highlighted by a Liberian diplomat during discussions at the forum.
