25 February 2026

Governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris, has flagged off the distribution of 12,779 furniture to secondary schools.

At the ceremony held yesterday at Emir Haruna Rashid College, Birnin Kebbi, Idris directed the Ministry for Basic and Secondary Education to commence the distribution of the furniture to secondary schools in the state.

He said government decided to provide the furniture for the students in order to improve the quality of the learning environments.

"As a teacher, I will not allow our children learning on a bare floor without chairs and tables therefore all our secondary schools will be equipped with basic learning materials in addition to the existing ones during my administration," Gov Idris said.

He called on the students to handle the materials with care and warned that the era of destruction of school property has gone.

He assured that additional supplies would be followed until schools in the state are adequately furnished.

Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Halima Bande commended the governor for the support.

She noted that more than 70 percent of the governor's campaign promises to the education sector have almost been fulfilled.
