Nigeria: Prolific Striker, Dadong, Triggers Kano Pillars' Resurgence

26 February 2026

Before the arrival of Luis Dadong, a mid-season signing from Wikki Tourists, Kano Pillars were neck-deep in relegation waters but the striker's proficiency in front of goal has become the much needed inspiration for the "masu gida" boys to keep fighting for survival.

Kano Pillars started the second stanza of the league second from bottom but are now in 16th position with 32 points, signifying a marginal leap that promises survival for the former Nigerian champions.

Dadong has delivered three goals in three matches, an outstanding performance that has endeared him to the teeming fans of the biggest football club in northern Nigeria.

In his first match, he scored the only goal as Pillars defeated reigning champions Remo Stars 1-0 at the Sani Abacha Stadium Kano.

He scored his second goal at the death to hand Pillars a crucial point on the road against Kwara United in week 26 at the Ilorin Township Stadium.

Dadong's third consecutive goal came in the 3-0 thrashing of El-Kanemi Warriors on Matchday 27 in Kano.

Reacting to Dadong's goal contributions, Assistant Chief Security Officer/Safeguarding Officer of Kano Pillars, Uba Jamilu Mohammed, said the team has found a talented goalscorer.

"His coming is a blessing to Pillars. Since his arrival from Wikki Tourists, he has scored in three consecutive matches.

"He is a good addition to the team and if you watch his goal against Kwara United, you will agree with me that the team has found a natural goalscorer.

"The fans are happy with him and are praying for him to keep the form which they believe will help the team finish in a respectable position in the log," said Ubah.
