The African Development Bank Group is organising the Airlines, Capital and Connectivity Forum on 25-26 February 2026 in Nairobi and online. The forum will provide an opportunity to launch the Integrated Aviation Transformation Program (IATP) for Africa.

This continental modernisation and financing platform is aligned with the African Union's Continental Aviation Infrastructure Investment Plan, estimated at $30 billion. The IATP is anchored in a $7 billion Aviation Financing and Connectivity Facility aimed at mobilising private and institutional capital at scale to build an integrated, safe, competitive, and climate-aligned African aviation ecosystem.

In addition to representatives of the Bank Group, the Forum will bring together Ministers of Transport, officials from the African Airlines Association, airline executives, export credit agencies, cargo operators, trade corridor logistics companies, insurers, and other stakeholders.

Among other objectives, the Forum will:

  • Present the IATP architecture and highlight the Pan-African Aviation Financing Platform and associated financing and risk-sharing instruments;
  • Facilitate structured engagement between African airlines and capital providers to align operational realities, risk perceptions, and bankability requirements;
  • Identify and advance priority pilot transactions to support early implementation and demonstrate scalable aviation financing solutions;
  • Strengthen collaboration across the African aviation ecosystem in support of connectivity, competitiveness, and regional integration objectives under AfCFTA and SAATM.
