Once again, American Actor and filmmaker Shia LaBeouf has been arrested. The New Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office shows that the actor was taken into custody on Saturday and charged with an additional misdemeanour count of simple battery.
His attorney, Sarah Chervinsky, noted that after realising that the New Orleans police had issued a new arrest warrant on Friday, LaBeouf willingly turned himself in to the Orleans Parish jail, according to media reports. He presently faces three charges, with his next hearing arranged for March 19.
"No regular person would be required to post over $100,000 in bonds and be jailed twice for one misdemeanour incident.
"Just as he does not deserve preferential treatment, Mr LaBeouf also does not deserve to be treated more harshly by the police and courts just because he is a public figure," his attorney said in defence of the 'Honey Boy' actor.
The actor's legal woes began at Mardi Gras earlier on February 17, when he was removed from an establishment in the French Quarter of New Orleans for alleged aggressive behaviour that caused a disturbance, leading to his subsequent arrest and release on bail.
