Gambia: Sjag Women's Sports Reporters Commission to Observe Int'l Women's Day

Sports Journalists of The Gambia Women's Sports Reporters Commission (WSRC) will on Sunday 8th March 2026 join the rest of the world to commemorate International Women's Day at the Seaview Gardens Hotel at 3pm.

This year's commemoration will be held under the theme: "Accelerate Action to Tackle Gender Inequality in Media Coverage.

The International Women's Day is observed globally on 8th March every year.

The celebration recognises achievements, resilience and invaluable contributions of women across all sectors, including sports journalism.

In The Gambia, the day is very significant for women's.

The day serves as a powerful platform to amplify women's voices, challenge stereotypes and advocate for inclusive, fair and equitable storytelling within sports media.

Sports Journalists Association of The Gambia, Women's Sports Reporters Commission remain committed in driving meaningful conversations, strengthening representation and accelerating progress toward gender equality in media coverage.
