Nigeria: Don't Run Away From Your People, Wike Tells Kuje Chairman-Elect

FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has advised the newly elected chairman of Kuje Area Council, Samuel Danjuma Shekwolo, to remain accessible to his constituents to better identify and address their challenges.

Wike gave this advice on Friday during his "thank you" visit to Kuje Area Council, urging the chairman-elect to prioritize the demands of the people who elected him.

"I believe that you will not abandon your people. I know that people demand a lot, but try to do your best. Don't run away from listening to your people; when you were campaigning, you were always at home. Now that the result has come, don't be a 'runaway chairman'," the Minister said.

While congratulating Shekwolo for overcoming the odds to emerge victorious, Wike cautioned him against becoming distant once sworn into office.

In response, the chairman-elect, Samuel Danjuma Shekwolo, expressed his gratitude to the minister, stakeholders, and security agencies for ensuring a level playing field and a peaceful election.

He also appealed to the Minister for the rehabilitation of key roads linking the Rubochi-Abaji and Kuje axes.
