Nigeria: Obasanjo, Jonathan, Shettima Grace Soludo's 2nd Term Inauguration

17 March 2026

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former President Goodluck Jonathan, alongside Vice President Kashim Shettima, have arrived at Chinua Achebe International Airport for the swearing-in of Chukwuma Soludo for a second term.

Governor Soludo and his deputy, Onyekachukwu Gilbert Ibezim, are scheduled to be officially sworn in on Tuesday. The main inauguration ceremony will take place at Alex Ekwueme Square, following a series of pre-inauguration activities.

The programme began on Sunday, March 15, 2026, with an interdenominational service at the International Convention Centre. The event marked the end of Soludo's first tenure and included prayers for a successful second term.

A thanksgiving mass is also scheduled for Sunday, March 22, 2026, at St. Patrick's Catholic Cathedral.

Security has been strengthened across the state, with law enforcement agencies deployed to ensure a smooth and peaceful inauguration.
