Nigeria: Ughievwen Professionals - Seek Approval for Okwagbe Market

The Ughievwen Professionals Forum has commended Sheriff Oborevwori for approving the construction and tarring of key road projects in Ughievwen Kingdom, describing the move as a demonstration of responsive governance and commitment to rural development.

In a statement issued in Warri, the group praised the governor for approving the Jeremi-Okwagbe-Egbo-Ideh Road, Okwagbe Internal Roads, and the Imode Internal Road linking Eyara through Imode to Agbaghare Town, noting that the projects would significantly enhance mobility and boost economic activities in the area.

Speaking on behalf of the forum, its President, Israel E. Kwode, said the approval had brought renewed hope and excitement to residents who had long awaited improved infrastructure.

Kwode noted that the development reflects the administration's commitment to its MORE Agenda, particularly in extending development to rural communities.

He recalled that the forum had recently appealed to the state government to intervene in the rehabilitation of critical roads across Ughievwen Kingdom, adding that the swiftl response underscores the governor's attentiveness to the needs of the people.

According to him, the Jeremi-Okwagbe-Egbo-Ideh Road serves as a vital corridor linking agrarian communities, while the Imode Internal Road connecting Eyara, Imode and Agbaghare plays a key role in facilitating the movement of farm produce to urban markets.

He added that the Okwagbe Internal Roads project would ease transportation challenges within the commercial hub, enhance local trade, and support small-scale businesses.

While applauding the approvals, the forum urged the governor to also consider the proposed Okwagbe Market project, describing it as a critical economic facility needed to further stimulate commercial activities in the kingdom.

Kwode explained that the market would serve as a central trading hub for farmers, traders, and artisans, create employment opportunities for youths and women, and promote rural economic growth.

The group also appealed for the mobilization of the Okwagbe-Otutuama-Ophorigbala Road project, noting its importance to the people of the area.

He expressed confidence that the state government would give favourable consideration to the requests in line with its inclusive development agenda.

Kwode further disclosed that the forum would closely monitor the execution of the approved road projects to ensure compliance with specifications and timely delivery.
