Nigeria: Unknown Gunmen Abduct Kano LG Secretary

22 March 2026

Unknown gunmen have reportedly abducted the Secretary to the Kibiya Local Government Area of Kano State, Hamza Musa.

Sources in the area revealed that the gunmen, numbering about six, stormed Durba's residence in Dinya town in the wee hours of Saturday and whisked him away.

The operation by the gunmen, according to one of the sources, was carried out swiftly without a single gunshot.

Another source said the gunmen gained access to the house through deception, asking Durba's son who was within the compound to feign illness to lure his father to open the door.

"Upon opening the door, the gunmen forced their way into the house and whisked away the duo but later released the son," the source said.

Meanwhile, as of the time of filing this report, Kano State Police Command was yet to issue a statement regarding the incident and, when contacted, the spokesperson of the command, CSP Abdullahi Haruna, didn't respond to the calls put across to his mobile number.
