Nigeria: Police Rescue Kidnapped Victim in Delta

25 March 2026

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have rescued a kidnapped victim in the state.

The victim, a 27-year-old lady from the Ibusa community, was reportedly kidnapped on March 12, 2026.

The command's spokesperson, Bright Edafe, said the police received a report that the lady had been abducted and taken to a building site beside the Obosi River, along the Ibusa/Ogwashi-Uku Road.

He stated that following the report, the State Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, ordered the Command's Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber-Crime Squad to ensure the victim was rescued unhurt and to move for the possible arrest of the suspects.

According to him, on March 19, when the squad arrived at the location, the kidnappers opened fire on the team. The operatives responded, forcing the criminals to flee and abandon their victim.

He added that the victim was rescued and taken to a General Hospital for treatment, noting that efforts to arrest the fleeing suspects are ongoing.
