Nigeria: Jason Derulo - Why Marriage Isn't in the Cards At 37

29 March 2026

Global pop star Jason Joel Desrouleaux, popularly known as Jason Derulo, has shared a rare look into his private life, admitting that being a bachelor at 37 is a situation he never saw coming.

In an honest conversation with Graham Bensinger, the 'Talk Dirty' singer revealed that he always imagined he would have settled down with a wife long ago. Reflecting on his past relationships, Derulo noted that he truly believed many of the women he dated were "the one."

However, his time in the spotlight has cooled his desire for a traditional wedding. The singer confessed that witnessing the constant breakups and "messy" splits of other famous couples has made him terrified of long-term commitment.

"I have seen too much," Derulo explained. "I've seen married women leave their husbands in the middle of a night out at a club. It makes you realise how quickly things can change." The singer said

Derulo has had high-profile relationships in the past, including a three-year romance with singer Jordin Sparks that ended in 2014. In 2021, he welcomed a son with his then-girlfriend Jena Frumes, though the couple separated just five months after the birth of their child.

The singer hinted that these experiences have left him wary of rushing into marriage, despite his earlier hopes of settling down young.
