Nigeria: Lakowe Lakes to Host Maiden Sunshine Tour Golf Qualifiers in April

A Sunshine Development Tour Qualifying School event is scheduled to be held at the Lakowe Lakes Golf Club in Lagos in April.

The tournament will run from April 13 to 15, featuring top professional golfers from Nigeria, Ghana, Togo, Cameroon, Senegal, and Gabon.

Outstanding performers at the qualifying event will secure spots on the prestigious Sunshine Tour across southern and eastern Africa.

Femi Olagbenro, Golf Manager at Lakowe Lakes, reaffirmed the club's commitment to raising standards and expanding competitive opportunities for both emerging and established players.

"We believe in consistently pushing the boundaries of growth for golf, and we are also supportive of innovation, and the Sunshine Development Tour's Qualifying School is our drive to support several initiatives in this direction," Olagbenro said.

The 54-hole event is expected to mark a significant milestone for golf development in Nigeria and West Africa, attracting increased international attention and fostering developmental programmes.

In addition to providing a pathway to the main Sunshine Tour next season, participants will also have the opportunity to earn points toward the Official World Golf Ranking.

Entries have already been received from across West and Central Africa, as the host club intensifies preparations to present the course in optimal condition ahead of the three-day competition.
