Nigeria: Gov. Lawal Appoints Dikko As DG of Zamfara Rural Roads Agency

Governor Dauda Lawal has approved the appointment of Engr Haruna Dikko as Director-General of the Zamfara State Rural Access Road Agency (RARA).

The Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, disclosed this, explaining that the agency is tasked with improving rural infrastructure, particularly roads and bridges linking rural areas to urban centres.

He said the administration is focused on infrastructure development to drive economic growth and enhance community security.

The government has also awarded contracts for key rural road projects, including the 108-kilometre Magami-Dansadau road and the 95-kilometre Tsafe-Yankuzo road, among others.

Dikko is a civil engineer and oil and gas professional with experience in project management, public procurement and infrastructure development.

He has served in several capacities in government, including Acting Director, Civil Works, and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure.

He holds a degree in Civil Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a master's degree in Oil and Gas Engineering from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, Scotland.

The governor charged the new DG to deploy his expertise in improving rural road infrastructure in the state.
