Nigeria: Kwara 2027 - Prof. Wale Sulaiman's Mass Appeal Can Deliver Victory for APC Group

A prominent grassroots political movement in Kwara State has declared that the widespread and loyal support base of Prof. Wale Sulaiman, CON, could secure victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 governorship election.

The Grassroots Movement for Good Governance and Credible Elections described the renowned neurosurgeon and entrepreneur as a unifying force with a rapidly expanding support network across Kwara South, Central, and North.

In a statement signed by its coordinator, Temitope Olubunmi Joseph, the group said Prof. Sulaiman commands an unusually strong following that cuts across political, ethnic, and regional divides in the state.

"Prof. Sulaiman enjoys a rare, deeply loyal support base that has grown organically from Kwara South and spread across the other senatorial districts. This places him in a strong position to deliver victory for the APC," the statement read.

The group added that his maternal ties to Kwara Central further strengthen his connection with the people, making him a bridge-builder capable of uniting diverse interests across the state.

Describing him as "baggage-free, progressive, and people-driven," the movement said Prof. Sulaiman possesses the leadership capacity required to take Kwara to the next level.

"He remains a committed progressive and a loyal ally of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Beyond politics, he has consistently demonstrated compassion and commitment to the welfare of the people, regardless of affiliations," the statement added.

While commending Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for what it described as transformative leadership, the group stressed the need for a successor with deeper governance expertise and global exposure to consolidate on existing gains.

"Kwara has made commendable progress under the current administration. However, sustaining and expanding these achievements requires a leader with broader experience, strategic vision, and proven competence," Joseph stated.

The group further argued that with the governorship rotation, Kwara South is well-positioned to produce the next governor, endorsing Prof. Sulaiman as the most credible aspirant from the zone.

"It is only fair and politically strategic for Kwara South to produce the next governor.

Among all contenders, Prof. Wale Sulaiman stands out as the most qualified, prepared, and widely accepted," the group said.

Highlighting his personal journey, the movement noted that Prof. Sulaiman rose from humble beginnings in Lagos to global prominence as a Professor of Neurosurgery, physician executive, philanthropist, and Chairman/CEO of RNZ Global.

It also cited his public service experience, including his role as Special Adviser on Health to Governor AbdulRazaq and current position as Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun.

According to the group, his track record of excellence includes transforming a modest neuroscience unit at the Ochsner Health System in the United States into a top-ranked national programme.

Reaffirming its support, the movement pledged to mobilise voters across the state to ensure his emergence.

"Prof. Sulaiman is tested, trusted, and equipped with the vision and competence to deliver real dividends of democracy. We will work tirelessly to ensure his victory," the statement concluded.
