Nigeria: Easter - Soun of Ogbomoso Urges Faith, Hope Amid State of the Nation

The Soun of Ogbomoso has extended warm Easter greetings to Christian faithful in Ogbomoso land, Oyo State, and beyond, calling on them to embrace faith, hope, and the enduring message of Christ's resurrection against the backdrop of the state of the nation.

In a statement issued on Easter Monday and signed by the monarch's Special Assistant on Media and Community Relations, Rev. Peter Olaleye, the Soun described Easter as "a day of triumph and joy for all Christians," urging the faithful to reflect on the significance of the season.

"Today, we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is a day of triumph and joy for all Christians. May this special day bring you peace, love, and renewed faith," the statement read.

The monarch encouraged Christians to use the occasion to strengthen family bonds and deepen their spiritual connection, noting that Easter symbolises hope and the promise of new life.

"As you gather with loved ones, may your hearts be filled with gratitude and your spirits lifted by the promise of new life. The empty tomb reminds us that nothing is impossible with God, and His love and mercy are always with us," he said.

He further urged Nigerians not to lose sight of the lessons of sacrifice and salvation embodied in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, stressing the need for compassion and purposeful living.

"Easter is a time for renewal and reflection, a reminder of God's unwavering love and sacrifice. May this day inspire you to live with purpose, kindness, and compassion, and may your life be a testament to the power of faith," the statement added.

Amid prevailing challenges in the country, the monarch also called for resilience and trust in God, expressing optimism that current trials would give way to testimonies.

"In this time of trial in our nation and community, let's hope in God, have faith in Him that the trials will soon become testimonies. We can't be downcast or weary whatever the machinations of the adversaries," he stated.

The royal father concluded by wishing Christians a joyful Easter celebration filled with peace, love, and the light of Christ.
