The Kogi State Police Command has arrested the principal suspects in the murder of a fresh graduate, Aminu Abubakar, describing them as notorious armed robbers linked to the killing of over 16 persons in previous operations.
This was contained in a statement issued by the command's Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat, on Wednesday in Lokoja.
The command said investigations revealed that the suspects, identified as Garba Godwin Ibrahim and Ashema Usman Samson, are ex-convicts previously jailed for armed robbery and culpable homicide.

According to the statement, the suspects were involved in multiple violent crimes resulting in the deaths of more than 16 victims.
The police added that in a well-coordinated, intelligence-led operation, operatives recovered the victim's tricycle alongside four other motorcycles suspected to have been stolen by the gang.
"In a further breakthrough, the suspects were found to have carted away the victim's tricycle and sold it to one Kabiru Idris of Anyigba," the statement said.
It noted that Idris was subsequently arrested, and a search of his residence led to the recovery of the stolen tricycle and other motorcycles.
"The suspect admitted to having ongoing dealings with the two suspects and further confessed to receiving stolen items from other criminal elements involved in armed robbery," the police said.
The command disclosed that the suspects posed as construction workers and lured the victim to a secluded location where he was later killed.
Autopsy results showed that the deceased suffered multiple severe blows to the back of the head with a blunt object, leading to skull fractures and fatal intracranial injuries.
"The suspects admitted that the act was premeditated and carried out with the intention of dispossessing the victim of his tricycle," the statement added.
Police said investigations have been concluded and the suspects arraigned before Magistrate Court 5 in Lokoja, where they were remanded in custody.
The remains of the late Aminu Abubakar, a resident of the Otokiti area of Lokoja, were discovered in a bush a day after he was declared missing by his family on March 18, 2026.
