Jos-based artist Big Chinni, known for hits like Ololufe, has shared how the recent crisis in Plateau State has shaped her life and inspired her creative work, highlighting the power of music to bring hope and unity.

In a chat with Potpourri, she said:

"The crisis has affected me as a resident -- without peace, we can't carry out daily activities. Then, as an artist, not really; instead, it gave me another dimension of feeling which I put into lyrics."

On the role of artists during difficult times, she added:

"Using their craft to preach love and togetherness, as an artist your fans are your leverage. You influence them, and by so doing, you are using your voice to heal and unite the divided."

She also offered advice to those mourning loved ones:

"I will say to them, mourn your loved ones for as long as you need. Life is golden, and pray that God sees you through."

Asked if she would compose a song inspired by the crisis, Big Chinni said:

"It would be a song of hope and pain, because after pain comes happiness and hope, because we are all still holding on to the thought that things might work out someday."
