The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State has announced Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, as its consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election in in the State.
The announcement was made by State governor, Dapo Abiodun, during a strategic caucus meeting in Abeokuta on Monday evening, where party leaders deliberated on the party's direction ahead of the next electoral cycle.
Speaking at the meeting, Governor Abiodun expressed optimism about the party's future in the state while formally presenting his preferred successor.
"Nothing will give you more joy than to fulfil all the dreams of my predecessors and ensure that the West produces the next governor. I look forward to the night before my departure from office, when I will sit with those who will attend the ceremony of my successor.

"I will also sit proudly with all my former governors at the swearing-in of a new APC governor. On that note, permit me to unveil the person we have all agreed is truly deserving of being the next flag bearer of our dear state, Senator Solomon Adeola."
Adeola, who currently represents Ogun West senatorial district in the Senate, is a prominent figure within the APC and has long been regarded as a key contender in the state's political landscape.
His emergence as the party's consensus candidate signals efforts by the APC to consolidate its position ahead of the 2027 election.
If confirmed at the party's primaries, Adeola will fly the APC's flag in what is expected to be a closely watched governorship race in Ogun State.
