A Zamfara State popular Islamic scholar, Dr Abdulmuddalib Muhammad Gusau, has formally declared intention to contest the seat of governor of the state shortly after joining the Africa Democratic Party (ADC) at Gusau local government party headquarters, Monday.
Dr. Abdulmuddalib, who happens to have alarming followers of roughly 600,000 across the 14 local government areas of the state, said he is compelled by unsatisfactorily performance of the present Governor Dauda-led administration across all sectors within the 3 years.
The cleric lamented poor attention given by the state government on insecurity which led to the multiplying numbers of Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) who over populated Gusau the state capital without minding to establish a befitting camp for them for their needed demands and even for health purposes.
"I obtained a highest academic degree (PhD) in agriculture, the position that enables me to acquire enough knowledge to enrich Zamfara State agricultural policy that will help to manage domestic agriculture, food security and rural development.
"Although, food security could not be achieved without security measures in place that would give safe room for that, but being the fear of Almighty Allah will be the central nervous system of my administration, all these lingering security challenges will be conquered," the cleric has assured.
Dr. Abdulmuddalib further said the health and education sectors in the state need urgent attention.
