Nigeria: Good Governance - Buni Clinches Vanguard Award for Rural, Agricultural Impact

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has been honoured with a Good Governance Award at the 40th Vanguard Personality of the Year ceremony, in recognition of his administration's strides in rural development and agriculture.

The award ceremony, held at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, celebrated outstanding leaders and institutions whose policies and interventions have delivered measurable impact across the country.

Governor Buni, who was represented at the event by the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Abdullahi Bego, received the honour for initiatives that have expanded socio-economic opportunities across communities in Yobe State, with particular emphasis on revitalising agriculture and strengthening food security.

"I had the privilege to represent His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni at the 40th Vanguard Personality of the Year Award ceremony (for 2025), which took place yesterday at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

"His Excellency Governor Buni was recognised in the Good Governance category and given an award for Rural Development and Agriculture.

"The award speaks to the governor's effort in spreading his administration's socio-economic interventions across all nooks and crannies of the state and his remarkable effort at revving up agriculture and promoting food security," Bego added.

The Commissioner was accompanied for the ceremony by Ibrahim Baba Saleh, the governor's focal person on public engagement and media liaison.
