Nigeria: Fintiri Accepts Calls to Contest Senate Seat, Pledges Continued Service

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has pledged to continue serving the people with dedication while building on the achievements of his administration.

The governor made the remarks after accepting calls to contest for the Northern Senatorial seat upon the completion of his tenure.

Speaking in Mubi, Fintiri responded to appeals from stakeholders in the Mubi Zone who urged him to represent them at the National Assembly in the next general election. He described the request as a great honour, noting that it reflects the confidence the people have in his leadership.

Fintiri attributed the call to his administration's achievements, particularly in infrastructure development and institutional reforms, which he said have improved citizens' lives. He assured supporters that he would not betray their trust, adding that he would seek his party's ticket and work towards victory.

Addressing security challenges in the Northern Zone, especially in areas affected by insurgency, the governor said efforts at rebuilding and recovery would continue. He noted progress in restoring communities impacted by Boko Haram attacks between 2014 and 2015 and promised sustained collaboration to ensure lasting peace and development.

Also speaking, Senator Amos Yohanna said his support for the governor was guided by personal conviction and loyalty to his people. He stated that he, alongside other stakeholders, encouraged Fintiri to contest for the Senate seat, describing the move as a collective decision in the constituency's interest.

Yohanna further called for peace and responsible political conduct, particularly in areas affected by insecurity, expressing confidence that Fintiri would contribute meaningfully to national development if elected.

The event was attended by top government officials and supporters from across the five zones, who reaffirmed their support and commitment to the governor's leadership.
