- As part of its commitment to promoting a cleaner and safer environment for citizens and aquatic life, Bloom Bank Africa, over the weekend, partnered with the Monrovia City Corporation (MCC) to carry out a large-scale cleaning exercise on Bushrod Island.
The exercise took place across the Vai Town and Clara Town communities and their surroundings, in observance of World Recycling Day. The initiative also aligns with Liberia's National Sanitation Day, which is observed on the first Saturday of every month.
The cleanup brought together more than 400 participants, including staff of Bloom Bank Africa, MCC employees, and community volunteers, all working collectively to improve sanitation in the area.
Speaking during the exercise, Olalekan Balogun, Managing Director and CEO of Bloom Bank Liberia, emphasized the bank's strong commitment to environmental sustainability.

He noted that the institution is well-positioned to continue executing such initiatives, adding that the bank has already received recognition and awards for its environmental efforts.
He further stressed that human activities inevitably impact the environment, making it essential for institutions to take responsibility, as demonstrated through Bloom Bank's ongoing cleanliness initiatives.
Also speaking, MCC City Manager Jones Willems commended Bloom Bank Africa for the initiative.
He praised the management and staff for leaving their offices to actively participate in cleaning public spaces.
Willems used the occasion to encourage other banks and institutions across the country to emulate Bloom Bank's example, noting that such actions require dedication and commitment.
He expressed admiration for the bank's consistency and revealed plans to encourage community leaders to replicate similar efforts.
"Bloom Bank Africa is setting an example that is worth emulating. We hope the private sector, in collaboration with the public sector, can continue to strategize in reducing waste pollution," he said.
