In a bid to strengthen women rights organisations across the country, no fewer than 36 organisations are undergoing capacity strengthening under the Renewed Women's Voice and Leadership Nigeria, RWVL-N, Project.

The project, supported by ActionAid Nigeria in partnership with Global Affairs Canada, is aimed at building stronger institutions, improving visibility, and ensuring long term sustainability for organisations working on women and girls rights in Nigeria.

The capacity strengthening process began with an inception and annual planning workshop attended by Chief Executive Officers and Executive Directors of the 36 organisations.

The workshop focused on setting priorities, developing strategies, and creating a roadmap for the implementation of the project.

Speaking on the initiative, Country Director of ActionAid Nigeria, Andrew Mamedu, said, "The RWVL-N Project is focused on building strong, independent, and resilient organisations. By strengthening institutional capacity, we are enabling our partners to expand their reach, deepen their impact, and sustainably advance the rights of women and girls across Nigeria."

As part of efforts to improve communication and visibility, Communications Officers from the participating organisations also received specialised training facilitated by Voice of Women Empowerment Foundation through Women Radio WFM 91.7.

The training focused on storytelling, message development, and media engagement to help the organisations better project their activities and impact.

Project Director of VOWEF, Bukola Gbede, said, "Effective communication is central to advancing the work of Women's Rights Organisations through the right caption."

Also speaking, Communications Specialist, Emmanuel Olonade, said, "Capacity strengthening in communications ensures that the work of WROs is not just done, but seen and understood. When organisations communicate effectively, they build trust, attract partnerships, and drive meaningful social change."

The project is also expected to commence another phase of training on resource mobilisation and diversification for the 36 organisations.

According to the organisers, the training will provide practical tools and strategies that will help the organisations secure funding, diversify income sources, and improve financial sustainability.

They noted that the project adopts a gradual and comprehensive approach to strengthening women rights organisations through planning, communication training, and resource mobilisation support.

Funded by Global Affairs Canada, the RWVL-N Project is designed to support gender equality and strengthen women rights organisations across Nigeria.

Voice of Women Empowerment Foundation is a non profit organisation focused on promoting the rights and visibility of women and girls in Nigeria through advocacy, media, and capacity strengthening programmes.
