Nigeria: APC Primaries - Benue Speaker Secures Return Ticket for Makurdi North

The Speaker Benue State House of Assembly, Berger Alfred Emberga , has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Makurdi North State Constituency following his adoption as the consensus flag bearer of the party ahead of 2027 elections.

Two aspirants in the race, Stephen Cuba Datso and Valentine Gbaka, voluntarily withdrew from the contest and pledged their support for the Speaker.

The consensus arrangement was formally announced at a stakeholders' meeting held at the residence of the Makurdi Local Government Point-Man and Renewed Hope State Coordinator, Terhemen Tarzoor, in Makurdi.

Speaking at the meeting, APC stakeholders said that the decision to back speaker Emberga was reached after extensive consultations within the party structure across Makurdi North.

Meanwhile, the State Assembly primary election Returning Officer, Atov Shagbaor Desmond, declared Emberga winner of the APC primary election after he polled a total of 24,414 votes.
