On the sidelines of its 2026 Annual Meetings, the African Development Bank Group will host a high-level knowledge event under the theme "Valuing the Green Wealth of Nations: Biodiversity and Carbon Credits, Ecosystem Services and Economic Productivity in Africa".

Building on the analytical insights of the Bank's policy report on 'Measuring the Green Wealth of Nations: Natural Capital and Economic Productivity in Africa' published in 2024, the session will explore how valuing natural capital can expand fiscal space, unlock access to green and blue finance, and incentivize the integration of carbon and biodiversity credits, and ecosystems services in economic productivity assessments, including the Gross Domestic Products of African economies.

This event will feature two expert panels exploring practical strategies strategies aimed at harnessing Africa's vast natural resources, which provide vital services such as carbon sequestration, which is essential to global well-being.
