Nigeria: NDC Disowns Social Media Primary Results, Summons NEC Meeting

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged Nigerians to disregard results circulating on social media regarding its nationwide primary elections, insisting that only the party's leadership is authorised to announce the official outcomes.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, the party said the results of the primaries conducted on May 28 and 29 remain with its National Executive Council (NEC), which has the exclusive responsibility of releasing them.

The party said the clarification became necessary following the circulation of multiple results online allegedly linked to the exercise.

According to the statement, a meeting of the NEC has been convened on the directive of the party's National Leader, Seriake Dickson.

It stated that members of the NEC are expected to arrive in Abuja on Tuesday, June 2, for a pre-NEC meeting ahead of the main session scheduled for Wednesday, June 3, 2026.

"The general public and stakeholders will be availed of the results of our primaries when we submit to INEC the list of candidates who will fly our party's flag," the statement added.

The party, however, did not indicate when the official results would be released.
