The African Development Bank has launched a new digital platform in Ghana to improve real-time field data collection, strengthen project supervision, and enhance the delivery of development operations across the country.
The platform, known as Remote Appraisal Supervision Monitoring and Evaluation (RASME), was introduced during a four-day capacity-building workshop held in Accra from 16-19 June. The initiative equips project teams with digital tools to collect, analyse, and verify field information more efficiently, supporting faster evidence-based decision-making throughout project implementation.
Speaking at the launch in Accra, the African Development Bank Ghana Country Manager, Halima Hashi, said the platform would improve the quality of project supervision and data collection while helping strengthen the design and impact of future development operations.
RASME enables field teams to capture georeferenced data, photographs, videos, and maps using smartphones, tablets, drones, and satellite imagery. The technology provides project managers with timely, verifiable information from implementation sites, helping reduce reliance on delayed or fragmented reporting.
The workshop brought together 62 participants, representing Bank-financed project implementing agencies and local project managers. Theyexplored the use of digital data collection and analysis tools to strengthen project supervision across sectors and support more responsive implementation.
The initiative forms part of the African Development Bank's broader digital transformation agenda, which seeks to modernise project monitoring and evaluation systems, enhance operational efficiency, and improve development results across Africa.
Ghana is a founding member of the African Development Bank. Since the Bank's first operation in the country in 1973, it has invested more than $8 billion in nearly 300 projects. Its current portfolio comprises 21 operations with total commitments of approximately $671 million, spanning agriculture, transport, energy, water and sanitation, social development, and finance.
