According to a statement by police spokesperson Ani Iniedu, the deployments were aimed at strengthening operational effectiveness and advancing ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, has approved the deployment of new commissioners of police to eight state commands and several strategic formations across the country.
The deployment, announced Thursday evening, followed the approval of the IGP's recommendations by the Police Service Commission (PSC).

According to a statement by police spokesperson Ani Iniedu, the deployments were aimed at strengthening operational effectiveness and advancing ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force.
Mr Iniedu, a chief superintendent of police (CSP), added that the appointments are intended to enhance leadership across state commands and specialised police formations while consolidating efforts to reposition the Force.
The newly appointed commissioners of police for state commands are: Afolabi Olutokunbo (Abia), Ayodeji Faniyan (Plateau), Saka Ajao (Bayelsa), Ajo Ordue (Cross River), Nanna Ama (Anambra), Patrick Daaor (Edo), Tani Murtala (Jigawa), and Samuel Erale (Delta).
The police spokesperson said the IGP also approved the redeployment of senior officers to key operational and administrative departments at the Force Headquarters, the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), the Force Intelligence Department (FID), the Police Academy (POLAC), the Police Staff College (PSC), and other specialised formations.
Among the appointments, Yemi Oyeniyi, a commissioner of police, was deployed to the Intelligence and Training Department of the FID in Abuja, while Charles Dike, also a police commissioner, will head INTERPOL at the FCID.
Other deployments cover strategic units including the Counter Terrorism Unit, Anti-Human Trafficking Section, Anti-Fraud Unit, General Investigation Section, Finance and Administration Department, Inspectorate, Welfare Department, and Training and Development Department.
The IGP, according to the police spokesperson, charged the officers to leverage their experience in strengthening intelligence-led policing, improving operational efficiency, promoting professionalism, and deepening community engagement.
He said the police boss also urged them to remain committed to protecting lives and property while maintaining high standards of discipline, accountability, and service delivery.
