Nigeria: Taiwo 'Ogogo' Hassan, Veteran Nigerian Actor, Is Dead

Ogogo's daughter announced her father's death during an Instagram Live session on Sunday.

Veteran actor and screenwriter, Taiwo "Ogogo" Hassan, has died after battling stage-four cancer.

PREMIUM TIMES earlier reported that the actor's daughters, Kira and Haleemah, disclosed that doctors diagnosed their father with cancer three weeks earlier. They appealed to Nigerians to help the family explore possible treatment options.

Kira announced her father's death during an Instagram Live session on Sunday. His colleague, Saidi Balogun, also confirmed the death in an Instagram post.

Kira, who was visibly distressed and crying during the live session, said she wanted to return home after learning of her father's death.

"Help me call my sister, my family, my daddy is dead. I want to go home. I can't believe this. I want to go and see my daddy before he gets buried," she said in the video.

"Painful"

Balogun described Ogogo's death as painful and prayed that Almighty Allah would guide the actor to paradise.

"Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un. You can rest now, my brother Taiwo Hassan Ogogo. May Almighty Allah guide you through Aljannah. This is truly painful," he wrote.
