Luanda — TAAG - Angola Airlines will launch operations on the new Luanda-Dakar-Praia route on 31 October, establishing a long-awaited air link between Angola and Cabo Verde while strengthening the carrier's connectivity with West Africa.

According to a press release sent to ANGOP on Saturday in Luanda, the new service will link Luanda with Dakar, Senegal, and Praia, Cabo Verde, creating a new air bridge between African markets with strong historical, people-to-people, institutional and economic ties.

"TAAG fully embraces its role as the national flag carrier, bringing countries, people and opportunities closer together through an increasingly integrated network," TAAG Chairman Clóvis Rosa said.

He said the Luanda-Dakar-Praia service, and the return route, had received the necessary regulatory approval from the aviation authorities concerned, with Angola's National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC) receiving official confirmation from Senegal's National Civil Aviation and Meteorology Agency (ANACIM) authorising TAAG to operate commercial air services.

TAAG has also been formally designated by ANAC to operate air services between Angola and Cabo Verde under the Bilateral Air Services Agreement between the two countries, further strengthening the institutional framework for the new route.

The airline said the inclusion of Dakar would strengthen the regional dimension of the new service and expand TAAG's connectivity opportunities in West Africa, in line with its strategy to develop its network and promote greater integration among African markets.

TAAG is a leading airline in the Angolan aviation market, with an international presence and sustained growth. It currently operates 13 domestic and 12 international destinations.

In addition to passenger services, its fleet also transports cargo, a service that is becoming increasingly important to the development of the local economic ecosystem.
