The African Development Bank Group will host its Civil Society Open Day on Thursday, 27 August 2026, in Harare, under the theme "Bringing the Bank Closer to the People." This hybrid event will bring together civil society organisations, government representatives, and development partners for dialogue on the Bank's Country Strategy Paper and its existing investment portfolio in Zimbabwe. By engaging these groups as key stakeholders, the gathering aims to align collaborative efforts with Zimbabwe's national development objectives.

Event Programme and Strategic Focus

The programme is structured around thematic sessions covering the macroeconomic context, strategic priorities, and updates on the Bank's Zimbabwe portfolio, alongside feedback on the Country Portfolio Performance Review. Participants will also review highlights of the Civil Society Engagement Action Plan (2024-2028). A dedicated interactive session will allow attendees to share experiences and lessons learned from active Bank-funded initiatives, including the Zimbabwe Arrears Clearance Dialogue Enhancement Project and the Zimbabwe Agricultural Value Chain and Livelihoods Enhancement Project.

Key Speakers

The event will be opened by Ms Eyerusalem Fasika, Country Manager for Zimbabwe, and Ms Zéneb Touré, Manager of the Civil Society and Community Engagement Division. They will be joined by representatives from Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, other government departments, and local civil society networks to set the stage for inclusive and productive dialogue.

These Open Days remain a vital channel through which the Bank amplifies civil society voices across its Regional Member States. The Harare event offers a direct line of insight into the Bank's strategic priorities and practical entry points for grassroots collaboration. Contributions from participants will help shape the Bank's ongoing efforts to enhance project delivery, transparency, and drive inclusive, sustainable development.

This event is organised by the Bank's Civil Society and Community Engagement Division in partnership with the Zimbabwe Country Office.
