The Voices for Community Development Foundation (VCDF) has paid the school fees of 170 orphaned and vulnerable pupils and students in Abaji Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The founder and Chief Executive Officer of VCDF, Comrade Abdulkadir Lukman, disclosed this during the presentation of financial support to the beneficiaries in Abaji on Monday.
He said the initiative was aimed at assisting orphaned and vulnerable children in the area and easing the burden of paying their school fees.

According to him, the scholarship programme was designed to promote access to education and support orphaned and vulnerable children in the Abaji community in honour of the late renowned philanthropist, Hon. Yusuf Saleh Ashafa.
Lukman said 170 beneficiaries from junior secondary and primary schools were selected for the scholarship programme.
He added that the initiative was also in memory of the late former chairman of the council, Alhaji Umar Abdullahi, with each beneficiary receiving ₦5,000 in educational support.
"A life that touches others continues to live on through the lives it transforms. This scholarship is a tribute to his cherished memory and a reflection of the values of compassion, service, education and community development that continue to inspire those who knew the late philanthropist, Hon. Yusuf Saleh Ashafa," he said.
Lukman further said the initiative reflected the foundation's continued commitment to advancing education, empowerment and enlightenment, while supporting vulnerable children and creating opportunities for a brighter and more sustainable future.
He also disclosed that during the closing ceremony of extra-moral classes for secondary and primary school pupils organised by the Abaji Students Union, the foundation donated ₦500,000 to facilitators and the best-performing students.
He added that parents' groups in the community also received ₦500,000 as palliative support to cushion the effects of economic hardship.
