Nigeria: Powa Empowers 110 Officers' Wives, Widows in Abuja

The FCT chapter of the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) under its chairperson Hajiya Maimuna Muhammed Sanusi, has empowered 110 officers wives' and widows of deceased officers of the command in Abuja.

Speaking during the empowerment programme in Abuja at POWA secretariat in Utako, Abuja, Sanusi, said the police wives and widows were beneficiaries, as part of the association's commitment to strengthening the wellbeing of families of serving and fallen police officers.

The empowerment programme under the theme: "Empowered Women, Stronger Families, Stronger Society," was designed to provide beneficiaries with support and opportunities to improve their livelihoods, strengthen their families and contribute meaningfully to society.

She stated that POWA, under the national leadership of Mrs Mutiat Olufunmilola Disu, remains committed to promoting the welfare, empowerment and dignity of police wives and widows.

She noted that the initiative was part of the association's broader efforts to equip women within the police family with the necessary support and opportunities to become self-sufficient.

She assured that POWA will continue to initiate programmes that strengthen families and enhance the wellbeing of its members.

In his opening remarks, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, commended the FCT POWA chapter for its commitment to the welfare and empowerment of police families.

The police commissioner, appreciated the leadership and members of POWA FCT chapter for the initiative and urged the beneficiaries to utilise the empowerment support responsibly.
