Nigeria: Bandits Invade Kaduna Estate, Abduct Pregnant Woman, Baby, Two Others

6 October 2026

A pregnant woman, a man, his wife and their six-month-old baby have been abducted from Alrahus Estate in Kaduna Millennium City, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The incident, which occurred at about 11:30pm on Monday, threw residents of the estate into panic. The attackers reportedly moved from house to house in search of victims.

The husband of the pregnant woman, Abdulladir Bello, who confirmed the incident, said he was in Abuja when his wife called to alert him that some people were attempting to force their way into their compound.

He said he tried to contact the police but could not get through, before reaching out to the military, which promptly deployed personnel to the area.

"I was in Abuja when she called around 11:30pm to tell me that thieves were trying to force their way into the compound.

"So I tried calling the police because I was confused, but their lines were not getting through. I then reached out to the military and they sent their men," he said.

Bello said the attackers fled with his pregnant wife after breaking into a neighbouring house, where they abducted a man, his wife and their six-month-old baby.

He added that the abductors later contacted him and demanded a huge ransom for the release of his wife.

Bello commended the military for its prompt response and called on residents to continue collaborating with security agencies to tackle insecurity in their communities.

A resident whose house was also attacked but managed to escape with his family said the attackers entered some houses in the estate and searched for residents to abduct.

The resident, who said he relocated to the estate about four years ago after bandits terrorised his community in Keke B area, said the latest attack had renewed fears among residents.

"Now they have followed us here again, but we thank God nobody was killed. We pray that those abducted will return safely to their families," he said.

The latest incident occurred barely five days after an attack at PW Babban Saura, where a man was killed while his wife and son were abducted alongside six other persons.

Efforts to get the reaction of the Kaduna State Police Command's Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, were unsuccessful as his telephone line could not be reached as of the time of filing this report.
