Can the Great Green Wall Save the Sahel?
The Great Green Wall project involves planting a living wall of trees and bushes linking Dakar on the Atlantic coast with Djibouti on the Red Sea to protect the semi-arid Sahel region from desertification.
The Great Green Wall aims to prevent the Sahara Desert from encroaching on land used for human settlement.
