Liberia: Tracking Down Mercenaries

By extraditing alleged Ivorian militia fighters, temporarily closing its border with Cote d'Ivoire and pledging tighter surveillance of Ivoirian refugees in the country, Liberia has sought to show it is serious about tackling mercenary problem on it's territory. But critics have accused the authorities of tailoring their security policy to the needs of Côte d'Ivoire, at the expense of opening old wounds from Liberia's civil wars.
