African 'Blue Economy' Handbook Endorsed by Indian Ocean Nations

According to the ECA's Africa's Blue Economy Policy Handbook: 38 of the 54 African States are coastal States; 90 percent of Africa's imports and exports are conducted by sea; and freshwater and ocean fish contribute to the nutritional security of over 200 million Africans. The Indian Ocean Commission (IOC)--composed of five African Indian Ocean nations: Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius, Réunion (an overseas region of France), and Seychelles--recently endorsed the handbook as a methodological tool.
