South African Finance Minister in Parliament Over Grant Crisis
Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan has appeared before the standing committee on public accounts to respond to the Treasury's reservations on the proposed new contract with current grants service provider Cash Paymaster Services. This comes as the deadline for payment of social security grants due to 17 million beneficiaries looms.
