Nigeria's MKO Abiola 19 Years After - the Murder of Hope

Moshood Abiola, often referred to as M.K.O. Abiola, died exactly 19 years ago on July 7, 1998 under suspicious circumstances. Late military ruler General Sani Abacha had detained him on charges of alleged treason. Abiola ran for the presidency in 1993, and is widely regarded as the presumed winner of the inconclusive election since no official final results were announced.
