Former cabinet minister and retired politician, James Maina Wanjigi, has failed to appear before a Nyeri court to respond to charges of failing to secure a firearm that was seized from him on October 17, 2017, when police raided his son Jimi Wanjigi's home in Muthaiga. Jimi Wangiji is the key "financier" of Raila Odinga's National Super Alliance party and has previously been in trouble with the Jubilee government for his affiliation with the opposition.
