Bank of Uganda Grilled on Missing Assets of Closed Banks

A parliamentary committee is investigating the Bank of Uganda for alleged irregularities in the closure of seven commercial banks, some of which were shut down 20 years ago. Also under scrutiny are the circumstances under which the assets of the closed banks were sold at a 93% discount to a now defunct offshore company registered in Mauritius.
