Probe Into South African Mental Health Patients' Deaths Welcomed

An inquest by the National Prosecting Authority into the deaths of the 144 mental healthcare users who were transferred from the Life Esidimeni facility to unlicensed non-governmental organisations in 2015 has been welcomed by SECTION27 and the Life Esidimeni Family Committee. Acting Director of Public Prosecutions, Advocate George Baloyi, said the decision was made after careful consideration of all the facts, reports and available information.
